Boompa partners with Proper Distribution for UK

(Vancouver, BC / London, UK) — Fusing a deep-seated punk fury with a gritty country influence and pop sweetness, Leeroy Stagger‘s sophomore album Beautiful House places him firmly in the genre of powerful singer/songwriter, having opened for such sonically diverse artists as The Pixies, Modest Mouse, The Rheostatics and most recently Evan Dando (The Lemonheads).

With a voice of ferocious intensity, Stagger hit Canada’s music scene like a hurricane back in ’98. After an opening stint on a nationwide tour for Hot Hot Heat, Stagger found his niche in the genre of alt-country inspired rock and released his debut album Dear Love (2004).

Casting Stagger in the role of classic rock ‘n’ roll outsider in the tradition of Paul Westerberg and Ryan Adams, Beautiful House is a record about estrangement and absence, ideal for fans of a certain kind of orphaned Americana. Anyone who has been touched where it hurts by American Music Club, Steve Earle or Gram Parsons will soon be awakened with a surge of heart-rendering lyrics and infectious songs.

With a touring ensemble of impeccable musicianship, known as The Sinking Hearts, Leeroy Stagger has performed to sold out rooms across North America including a packed showcase performance at this year’s SxSW festival in Austin, TX. Leeroy is constantly on the road in North America and this late summer will see Leeroy performing acoustic solo sets across the UK.

And it all kicks off at The Borderline in London on Aug. 23rd where Leeroy Stagger will be performing alongside of fellow Canadian Gordie Sampson.

Beautiful House will be released through Proper Distribution on September 19th, 2005 by Vancouver, BC independent label Boompa Records. Early reaction to the album has it marked as
an instant classic.
